You may remember that we recently announced major funding for our knowledge sharing project from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation.
Since then we have been hard at work refining and designing the concept with UX expert Jordan Kanarek, a process that was recently completed to great success. The results are awesome, and the curious among you can check out preview screen shots on our Lab blog here.
After much thought, an extensive All Our Ideas poll and hundreds of post-its, we have finally decided upon a name for the platform (drum roll..)
It has a good ring to it, doesn’t it? So much so that we were surprised no-one else has used it!
It satisfied our criteria on a number of fronts:
* The name is purposeful without being lofty, and catchy without being cutesy! We wanted something that reflects our organizational emphasis on clarity and connectivity.
* Our goal is to provide a platform to connect like minds to work on the issues that matter to them in their respective communities.
* In a neat double entendre, we also intend for our platform to encourage the sharing and cheerleading of community ideas that people like, similar to how you would ‘like’ a post on Facebook, engendering a culture of like-mindedness, as it were!
We would love to hear your thoughts about the name and the project, which we are hoping will be launched in the early months of 2011. Watch this space!
