Kristi Kimball

Program Officer, The Hewlett Foundation

Kristi Kimball is a Program Officer in the Education Program at the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation and has served in this capacity for almost five years. Her focus is on grants that advance k-12 state policy reform in California, aiming specifically to redesign school finance, build robust education data systems, improve teacher quality and increase college preparation. Kristi’s background includes serving in the U.S. Department of Education during the Clinton Administration, where she worked on the reauthorization of the Higher Education Act, school construction and modernization, charter schools and school choice issues. She also worked as a Research Associate at the Urban Institute, where she helped evaluate national progress in implementing k-12 standards-based reform, and as an education staffer on the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee. Kristi has also worked on state legislation and local policy reforms related to smart growth as the California
Deputy Director of the Surface Transportation Policy Project.
